About the Artist
Carolyn's Journey
Though I've always been drawn to creating art, traditional education didn't nurture that calling. My true artistic awakening came much later, emerging unexpectedly during one of life's most challenging chapters: caring for my ageing parents. In those demanding times, I found solace and healing through thread art, a medium that opened new doors to creative expression.
My thread work resonated beyond my initial expectations, leading to an international following through my Etsy storefront. A career highlight came when two of my creations were featured in a Danish museum exhibition, a moment that validated my unconventional path to becoming a professional artist.
The Inspiration
The natural world has always been my greatest muse, a connection that deepened after relocating to a peaceful farm property. Surrounded by wildlife and sharing my days with two rescued greyhounds, I found my artistic voice increasingly drawn to capturing the spirit of animals and the natural environment.
Today, I work primarily with coloured pencils, fascinated by how countless layers of colour blend and build to create depth and bring my subjects to life. There's something magical about capturing the essence of the natural world through these rich, nuanced forms. I approach each artwork instinctively, allowing the materials themselves to guide the creative direction.
